Dr. BIDOUNG MKPATT
Minister of Arts and Culture
Bidoung Mkpatt was born on November 16, 1953, in Nanga Eboko, a town located in the Central Region of Cameroon. He attended the Nanga-Eboko Primary School and the Nanga-Eboko Adventist Primary School, the Nanga-Eboko Secondary School, and the Obala High School. For his higher education, Bidoung Mkpatt attended the University of Yaoundé I, the National Institute of Youth and Sports (Youth and Recreation Division), and the University of Bordeaux III.
Regarding the diplomas obtained, he has the CEPE – the BEPC – the BACCALAUREAT “D”, the DIPLOME OF PRINCIPAL YOUTH AND ANIMATION ADVISOR (top of the class) and a University Doctorate, new French single thesis system, in Arts and Entertainment communication (Very honorable mention).
Regarding his experience in cultural and public performance, Bidoung Mkpatt, among others, has directed and performed fifty (50) plays. From 1974 to 1996, he wrote and staged nine of his plays in cities across Cameroon and beyond. His play, Monsieur le Préfet , which won an award at the 8th Inter -African Theatre Competition organized by Radio France International (1976), was also performed in Cameroon from 1976 to 1980 by troupes such as Les Tréteaux d’Ebène and Les Amis de la Scène .

Several sketches, written and recorded, were broadcast in national media and in other countries (the CEO, Mam Nylon, the Book of the Month, the Scoundrel’s Opinion, Weak Heart, the Devilish Chameleon, the Schemer, the Work Tool, Mr. President, the Rigorous One, Vita Course, the Chance to Hope Mr. Debrou, the Insurance Costs, Contamination, Living Long Young, the Intolerant, etc.). AHMADOU MOKTAR MBOW , The African is a poetic recital performed at the Palais des Congrès during his stay as Secretary-General of UNESCO on July 20, 1988.
Bidoung Mkpatt’s responsibilities included serving as President of the Jury for the Children’s and Youth Theatre Festival, coordinator of the monthly “Theatre Evenings” in Yaoundé held at the Yaoundé Municipal Circle (1983-1998) , Vice-President of the Cameroon Centre of the International Theatre Institute (CCII T), and President of the Jury for the Yaoundé International Theatre Encounters. In 1996, he was President of the Cultural Activities Promotion Unit of the Central Committee of the CPDM (Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement). In 1997, he organized the Mega Victory Concert for President Paul Biya in the presidential election (Yaoundé Conference Center – MVOMEKA), among other roles.
For the positions held, he was the Director of the Provincial Youth and Animation Center of Madagascar in Yaoundé, Teacher at the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences of Yaoundé, Director of the National Institute of Youth and Sports of Yaoundé, President of the Ad Hoc Commission in charge of the preparation of the events of the year 2000, Minister of Youth and Sports , Minister of Youth and Civic Education, Minister of Sports and Physical Education and finally Minister of Arts and Culture.
